The Azores - Portugal's version of Hawaii

April 22 TH 2018:After a five hour flight from Toronto we arrived at Ponta Delgada Airport in our giant AirBus A340 2:00 AM Toronto Time 6:00 AM Azores Time and enjoyed our first Portuguese Breakfast with Cheese and Ham on a roll and tasted the first cup of coffee Portuguese style.

We were delighted to find hanging from the ceiling a giant replica of Commander Tower's NC-3.

Now we know why the unofficial national symbol of the Azores is the cow; they are everywhere across the countryside.

April 25TH Botanical Gardens near our hotel

We were a little early to see the rose garden at its best.

April 25TH Afternoon: Took a taxi from the gardens to the Yellow Bus pick-up point for a tour of the Westerly loop.
